Dan and fellow class mate, Rusty Gans, were traveling back to Tallahassee (FSU) from Atlanta. Dan had played in a Rugby game earlier in the day. They were hit head on by a drunk driver just outside Tally. Dan and Rusty were both killed in that accident.
