In 1978, Dan and Rusty (and another good friend of mine, Paul Schmidt) were returning to FSU from Atlanta, when they died in a head-on crash with a drunk driver. See also the comments for Dan Koehnemann.
While I did not personally know Rusty very well, he was very close to some good friends of mine. I remember hearing about this tragic accident shortly after I moved to Maryland. I was visiting my Papa's grave this Friday, and saw Rusty's marker on my way back to the car. I took a picture of it, in case anyone would think it's a fitting picture to add to this memorial ... but I don't want to offend anyone. R.I.P. Rusty.

Loved Rusty!! We never skipped a beat when we got back in touch! He pops up in my memory all the time!! He was an awesome person and I miss him!!
