DALE ALLEN HOOD
Dale Allen Hood, 36, of Chicago, Ill., died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1991, in Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Cathedral of Chicago. He attended Florida State University, from which he received his bachelor's degree in music education and his master's degree in library science. He was a senior user service librarian for NOTIS Systems, Inc. of Evanston, Ill. He was previously employed by the Robert L.F. Sikes Library of Crestview, Fla., and the city library of New Orleans, La. He is survived by his parents, Auburn and Clara Hood of Panama City; his brothers, Andrew Hood of Minneapolis, Minn., and Dwight Hood of Tallahassee. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 3, 1992, in st. James Episcopal Cathedral in Chicago with Dr. Ruth Teena Williams officiating.

Thank you for posting that, Carl. I always wondered what happened to Dale. He was such a gifted clarinetist! I have so many memories both from the Jenks band, where I sat right next to him for 3 years, on into the Bay High band where I had to challenge everybody to make second chair to sit by him. I do remember challenging his chair once, and winning! But he got it back from me tne next day or so....

I hope life was good to Dale, short as it was.

Dale came to Atlanta on a business trip in September before he died in December.  We got together while he was in town.  He was in very good spirits, and we laughed a good deal over some of the things we did in high school.  He particularly remembered the time he, Chelsea Gaunt, Chris Grant, and I drove over to Tallahassee in Dale's car, and, coming back, Dale forgot to disengage the parking brake and burned up his brakes.  Dale lived his life to the fullest, and he was a good friend to me.  I still miss him but have great memories of the times we spent together.
